Drawings of coats of arms in the windows of Rycote Chapel

Author
Richard Lee
Date
1574
Medium
Drawing

Originally the windows of Rycote Chapel were decorated with the coats of arms of its benefactors and owners. It is not known when they were removed but they were certainly no longer present by the middle of the nineteenth century (Weare, Haseley, p. 150). These drawings were produced by the herald Richard Lee during his Oxfordshire visitation of 1574.

Evocative sketches of the former windows of Rycote Chapel, now missing, like so much of this once great Tudor mansion.
