Drawing of the facade of Rycote House

William Delafield, after Henry Winstanley

An eighteenth-century copy of an engraving of Rycote House by Henry Winstanley drawn by William Delafield for his father Thomas Delafield's unpublished history of Rycote. Winstanley's view is the earliest known pictorial evidence of the Tudor mansion at Rycote. Winstanley's engraving is dedicated to "James Lord Norreys, Baron of Ricott & Lord Lieutenant of the County of Oxford." This would indicate a date of between 1674, the date of Lord Norris's appointment as Lord Lieutenant, and 1682 when he was created Earl of Abingdon.
